Financial Systems Technical Analyst
St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a Senior-Level Financial Systems Technical Analyst to plan, design, build, and implement EMR/EHR financial information systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise in financial systems, specifically Soarian Financials, and involves leading projects to enhance revenue cycle operations and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities
Gather requirements and functional specifications, assess current-state/provide recommendations for future-state functionality to develop and maintain Revenue Cycle systems focusing on Enterprise and Best-Practice standards for processing and handling of the Healthcare Revenue Cycle functions such as Insurance Claims Processing or Charge structure to achieve desired outcomes
Ensure all rules and workflows comply with healthcare regulations (e.g.: The Joint Commission, CMS), payer requirements, and organizational policies (e.g.: Change Control process)
Ensure seamless integration of Soarian Financials with other healthcare information systems and financial applications
Identify and implement system enhancements and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors in charging, claims processing and remittance management
Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in revenue cycle processing and remittance and reimbursement management
Provide advanced technical support for revenue cycle and claims/remittance processing rules
Daily work to help diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
Work closely with revenue cycle management teams, billing departments, and IT staff to understand needs and translate them into effective system rules
Collaborate with vendors and external partners to implement and test new rules and system updates
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all rules and workflows within Soarian Financials. Maintain technical documentation based on standard operating procedures in support of the project repository and operations expectations
Train end-users and technical staff on new rules and system functionalities
Develop system test scripts, plan, and coordinate system testing and validation regularly as necessary for system patches and upgrades to ensure quality and functionality
Builds and maintains relationships with software and support vendors to ensure system issues are documented and addressed by the vendor in a timely manner
Plans, Designs and Provides Leadership in implementation/upgrade/migration projects as required. Provides system process knowledge, perform configuration tasks, write/run reports, and other tasks in support of the project team as assigned
Promotes the use of best practices of application system in the user community and with department managers
Completes goals assigned by applications directors, managers, or supervisors
Maintains confidentiality of information encountered in support of application systems as outline in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Continuously transforming system to enhance customer experience
Interact with Information Services Analysts during the software build or configuration and the unit testing process through go-live and post-live support
Work in collaboration with Business and Testing Team analysts for system and integration test execution for all required workflow and supporting functionality
Identify the common causes of the defects, prioritize them and systematically remove them in further development work. Possess technical knowledge of Soarian Financials and functions that support all workflows
Be part of the 24x7 support of the Soarian Financials applications and help troubleshoot problems when they surface
Actively monitors assigned Service Now (SNOW) support tickets, providing regular updates, and resolving issues in a timely manner, in accordance with established SLA’s and provides end-user communication/training/support as appropriate
Follows organizational Change Control procedures
Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure project deadlines are met
Strives to be the best; stretches own capabilities to continuously improve. Sets a positive example for others
Qualification
Required
Advanced patient financial systems skills (for example, database coding and scripting skills to help with claim modifications, statement customizations, creation of custom rules, denial management, charge tiering, charge building and troubleshooting, etc.)
Deep technical expertise in Soarian Financials system functionality and its underlying database and master files
Extensive knowledge of revenue cycle management
EMR (e.g., Cerner Millenium) integration with revenue cycle
Strong background in claims processing, denials and remittance management and bill scrubber solutions
Charge tiering, charge structure build and management
Master file maintenance
Rules build and optimization (CRDT, BRDT, etc.) and scripting
