George Sharswood Fellowship
The University of Pennsylvania is offering the Sharswood Fellowship aimed at scholars committed to legal academia. The fellowship provides opportunities for research, writing, and teaching while integrating fellows into the law school faculty.

Responsibilities
Produce at least one legal academic work of publishable quality during each year of funding
Teach a seminar based on the subject of their research
Teach the same seminar that they taught the previous spring
Teach a course to be determined in consultation with the dean
Prepare for the academic teaching market during their first year
Apply for academic jobs during their second year
Qualification
Required
Must have earned a law degree or PhD or equivalent in a related field
Should not yet have held a full-time tenure track legal academic appointment
Must produce at least one legal academic work of publishable quality during each year of funding
Must teach a seminar based on the subject of their research in Academic Year 1 (2026-2027)
Must teach the same seminar that they taught the previous spring in Academic Year 2 (2027-2028)
Must teach a course to be determined in consultation with the dean in Spring of Academic Year 2 (2027-2028)
Must prepare for the academic teaching market during their first year and apply for academic jobs during their second year
Must submit a detailed research proposal
Must submit a teaching statement (course abstract and plan for class or seminar)
Must submit writing sample(s)
Must submit a curriculum vitae
Must submit law school and/or graduate school transcript(s)
Must provide three references, minimum (at least one must be an academic reference)
