Senior LevelVCU Health is a healthcare organization seeking a Cytotechnologist Senior for their Anatomic Pathology Core Lab. This role involves training and supervising cytotechnologists, performing diagnostic procedures, and ensuring quality control in cytology operations.

Responsibilities
Perform the duties of a technical trainer in the cytology laboratory
Assist the supervisor in training, scheduling and assigning duties appropriate to each cytotechnologist
Coordinate quality control procedures
Troubleshoot
Maintain procedure manuals
Train and document method evaluations and inventory control in primary areas of responsibility
Perform In Situ Hybridization techniques
Assist on deep Fine Needle aspiration (FNA) and Ultrasound Guided Fine Needle Aspiration (US-FNA)
Examine cell samples and make primary diagnoses on all cases (GYN, Non-gyn and FNA)
Make final diagnoses on normal limit GYN
Make preliminary diagnoses on abnormal GYN, all Non-gyn and FNA
Demonstrate an ability to identify and solve problems with initiative and good judgment
Reach quality decisions in leading the cytology staff in primary areas of responsibility
Place orders for equipment and office supplies for Cytology, CDC and Surgical Pathology (if requested)
Act as the technical specialist maintaining a constant awareness of new technologies and evaluating tests offered for accuracy, precision and economy
Qualification
Required
Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 6 months of employment into position
