Responsibilities

Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required
Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image
Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation
Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam
Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS
Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork
Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator
Process billing via RIS
Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.)
Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements
Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions
Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies
Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students
Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions
Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations

Qualification

Mammography certificationRadiologic Technology degreeRegistered Technologist (ARRT)Basic Life Support (BLS)Patient educationQuality assuranceTechnical skillsTeam collaboration

Required

Graduate of an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) school of Radiologic Technology
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)
Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training

Preferred

One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
