Responsibilities
Manage incoming new patient referrals
Assist with standardized patient check-in and check-out procedures such as entering and verifying demographic, insurance and financial information and generating routine forms and other documentation
Completion of FMLA and Disability forms as needed
Processing of incoming/outgoing patient appointment referrals for all providers
Schedule complex multiple provider appointments
Provide administrative support to ambulatory patient care functions
Collect patient co-pays
Manage denial process
Assist with other Front Desk tasks
Work with/advises patients on insurance carrier requirements including services not covered and obtains documentation
Understand the need for ABN's and Waiver of Liability
Answer calls
Obtain insurance authorizations as needed
Prioritize incoming mail, faxes and correspondence
Accept assignments to other areas as needed
Qualification
Required
Associates Degree and two (2) years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Familiarity with medical coding
Excellent written/oral communication skills required
Ability to multitask all support roles in a high volume setting
Excellent phone customer service
Strong computer skills required
Preferred
Working knowledge of computer systems such as Epic, Word, Outlook, etc
Understanding of insurance referrals and EPIC scheduling
