Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy systems within AWS and/or Azure environments
Utilize your in-depth knowledge of Unix and/or Windows operating systems to provide expert-level support and maintenance
Implement and adhere to industry best practices for system engineering, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security
Troubleshoot complex system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
Conduct system performance analysis and optimization to enhance overall system efficiency
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in systems engineering and recommend innovative solutions to improve system performance and reliability
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define system specifications, and develop implementation plans
Assessing systems, identifying problems, and providing robust solutions to ensure optimal system performance
Managing and monitoring installed systems and infrastructure within AWS and/or Azure environments
Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems and application software
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy systems within an AWS and/or Azure environment
Troubleshooting complex system issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions
Conducting system performance analysis and optimization to enhance overall system efficiency
Adhering to industry best practices for system engineering to ensure high availability, scalability, and security
Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in systems engineering and recommending innovative solutions
Providing technical guidance and support to junior team members
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, define system specifications, and develop implementation plans

Required

Bachelor of Science in a Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
4 years of additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a BS
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent certification is required
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, preferably working with systems within AWS and/or Azure environments
Strong expertise in Unix and/or Windows operating systems
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Experience with virtualization technologies and containerization platforms
Understanding of and experience in project management, application design and integration, cloud computing/engineering
Understanding and experience in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
Experience evaluating existing systems and applications, identifying risks and/or issues and/or opportunities for optimization and enhancements
Knowledgeable of and experience with systems and software configuration management best practices and tools, such as: Ansible, SaltStack, Rudder
Knowledgeable of and experience with various systems engineering tools to help understand and convey customer requirements, explore design options, optimize designs, and validate designs
Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and/or Azure
Solid understanding of networking protocols and security principles
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Elastic Stack, or Prometheus
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams

Preferred

Experience working in an Agile development environment is highly desirable
