Postdoctoral Research Associate - focused on constitutive modeling of metals and ceramics under extreme environments

They are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to lead the development of mechanistic based constitutive models for advanced metallic materials and ceramic composites, focusing on materials modeling under extreme environments.

Responsibilities
Lead the development of mechanistic based constitutive models for advanced metallic materials and ceramic composites
Conduct independent and collaborative research
Utilize advanced computational mechanics models to predict the effects of extreme environments on mechanical response and microstructure evolution in materials
Qualification
Required
Experience in modeling and simulations using crystal plasticity approaches or in rate theory/cluster dynamics methods
Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
Strong publication record
A PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or related fields completed within the last five years
Preferred
Experience in finite element-based simulations
Experience in phase field modeling
Experience in Fast Fourier Transform based simulations
Experience in uncertainty quantification
Ability to effectively program using common languages like C++, Python, Fortran
Ability to adapt to new requirements for projects and be flexible enough to learn new tools as needed by the research
