Instructional Technology Specialist

Responsibilities

Provides scheduled and just-in-time support (for individuals and groups) for technical resources including installed computer hardware, software, and peripherals; installed and circulating A/V equipment; and/or internet technologies
Plans and delivers instruction and programming in areas of expertise, including workshops and classes, to support technical literacy, class assignments and faculty research
Applies expertise to evaluating, deploying, and supporting information and technical resources for all users. Advocates for user needs in conversations about technology selection and support
Leads/participates in interdepartmental teams and institutional projects and communicates regularly with vendors, and on/off-campus colleagues to develop and ensure the efficient and reliable use of licensed operating systems and software
Participates in the operational support provided by LTS including (but not limited to) staffing of campus technology labs and LTS service points, writing online documentation, and participating in a range of LTS projects and support needs. Orients faculty, staff and students to college-supported information and technology services and resources

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Subject area degree may be required
1-3 years with B.A. (3-5 years without B.A.) years' experience in information technology service delivery (preferably in an academic setting) or practical experience in a discipline-related field
Experience teaching individuals and small/med groups
Experience leading technology projects
Experience working with classroom and/or instructional equipment
Evidence of repeatedly learning and applying new technologies
Knowledge of both Windows and Macintosh operating systems and applications
Broad knowledge of specific disciplinary technologies including software, hardware and peripherals
Ability to acquire new skills
Ability to move quickly between tasks and technical environments
Strong written and oral communication skills
The Instructional Technology Specialist is required to demonstrate the skills and expertise needed to provide user services in specialized areas and specific disciplines. Relevant subject degrees may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
Consultation with faculty regarding support needs requires knowledge of the subject discipline and an understanding of the pedagogical objectives of the courses involved
The Instructional Technology Specialist must be continually learning in order to keep pace with technical change, and investigate, test and implement new technologies vital to the college, while ensuring that the end users are confident in their own understanding and use of Wellesley's information and technical resources
This position requires a high level of self-discipline and collaboration and requires an awareness of and willingness to call on the expertise of LTS colleagues when their skills will enhance the quality of the work being performed
This position will provide other academic support as required (e.g. assisting faculty and students in preparing and installing their art productions both for final critiques and final display and screenings.)
Due to the nature of supporting teaching and learning services, work hours outside of the normal College workday will be required
