Intellectual Property and Brand Enforcement Paralegal
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is seeking an Intellectual Property and Brand Enforcement Paralegal to support the Office of General Counsel and Compliance. The role involves managing trademark and patent rights, enforcing IP compliance, and conducting research on IP legislation to protect the organization’s intellectual property rights.

Responsibilities
Actively monitors internet and social media platforms to identify unauthorized use and misuse of the Sorority’s IP and trademarks
Manages and maintains the trademark/IP docket systems, including tracking deadlines, filings and renewals
Manages the Sorority’s IP Enforcement program and develops processes and policies as needed. Alerts and coordinates with the AGC, Executive Director and International President on IP infringements and violations
Prepares and files trademark and copyright documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, U.S. Copyright Office and U.S. Customs
Maintains relationships with the IP staff from other National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations
Communicates regularly with brand managers, OGCC and licensees with respect to license operations and reporting
Assists in drafting and editing contracts and other agreements as assigned and instructed
Prepares internal and external reports as necessary
Assists with managing music licensing processes (i.e., vetting, tracking and approval) and ensures compliance with BMI, SESAC and ASCAP
Travels as necessary to the Sorority’s regional conferences and national conventions, trade shows, licensee meetings and presentations
Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods and event preparation
Attends evening meetings and events as assigned
Supports additional OGCC functions as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
One (1) to three (3) years of progressive IP paralegal experience, specifically in IP docketing, trademark and copyright prosecution
Familiarity with IP law, terminology and trademark procedures
Working knowledge of social media and operational rules and point-of-contacts
Proficiency with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Customs procedures, tools and processes
Experience with DocketTrak or similar IP management software
Excellent written and verbal communications
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Analytical problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements
Professional interaction skills with all levels of staff, vendors, executives and board members
Ability to navigate office environments, trade shows and convention centers in various cities
Must be able to travel as necessary for events where staff participation is required
Relocation assistance is not available. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of National Headquarters within six (6) months of start date
Preferred
Previous experience working in a law firm or legal office environment
Proficiency with Brandshield or similar brand protection platforms
