Responsibilities

Accurately translate reports/texts in electronic and hard-copy formats that contain facts and some abstract language showing an ability to capture intended implications and many nuances

Generally capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in text. Word choice and expression generally adhere to target language norms and means of expression specific to subject field(s) and are strong enough to allow translator to operate successively in that field

Interpret accurately. Typically, consecutive interpretation is needed, but simultaneous interpretation (French and/or Arabic to English and English to French and/or Arabic) may be requested on occasions

Has a good understanding of one or more regional dialects

Review audio or internet materials and transcribes with a high degree of accuracy and expression

Possess excellent English-language written communication skills for preparing reports

Has a good understanding of one or more regional dialects

Required

Ability to pass an advanced English test

Active TS/SCI Clearance with adjudicated Polygraph

Bachelors Degree

Ability to score ILR Level 3 or higher on target language translation test

Minimum five (5) years' professional experience conducting translation, transcription, translation, and/or interpretation

In-depth knowledge of the geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural components of target language geographical areas

Master use of MS Office and internet research

Preferred

Previous military experience

Has good understanding of one or more regional dialects

Consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation abilities
