Assistant Attorney General, Medicaid and Social Services
The Virginia Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Assistant Attorney General specializing in Medicaid and Social Services. This role involves litigating legal matters, providing counsel to the Department and Board, and addressing various legal issues related to Medicaid and health law.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Litigating in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals
Providing legal advice, counsel, and training to the Department and the Board
Attending Board meetings and providing advice and counsel to the Board
Reviewing regulations pursuant to the Virginia Administrative Process Act and State Plan amendments pursuant to federal law
Reviewing contracts and assisting the Department in procurement matters, including high-risk contracts
Completing special projects as assigned
Preparing official opinions
Responding to citizen inquiries
Reviewing legislation
Qualification
Required
excellent analytical, research, and writing ability
superior oral and written communication and litigation skills
excellent interpersonal skills
must be a member of the Virginia Bar
Preferred
significant state government experience
thorough understanding of Medicaid law
