Assistant Professor-Engineering
Wheaton College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Engineering with a Civil and/or Environmental specialization to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach foundational engineering courses and develop new courses within the Civil/Environmental concentration, while also mentoring students and engaging them in an active learning model.

Responsibilities
Teach foundational engineering courses (e.g., Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, and Engineering Graphics)
Develop new required and elective courses within the Civil/Environmental concentration
Teach courses for non-majors in the general education curriculum
Teach seminar-style courses for majors such as an Introduction to the Profession course for first-year students or a capstone Engineering Ethics seminar
Maintain an active and productive program of scholarship that engages Wheaton undergraduate students
Qualification
Required
Earned Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline
Excited to mentor and engage students with an active learning model
Previous teaching and industry experience
Hands-on design and project-based learning experience
Ability to mentor engineering students in the integration of Christian faith with the practice of engineering
Maintain an active and productive program of scholarship that engages Wheaton undergraduate students
Affirm the College's Statement of Faith as expressing their own theological convictions
Agree to live by the moral standards in Wheaton's Community Covenant
Model commitments for the Christian formation of students
Support the Christ-Centered Diversity Commitment
Create a campus climate where all faculty, staff, students, and alumni are included as full participants who feel welcomed, respected, valued, and supported
Submit a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest
Clearly articulate qualifications in terms of teaching, mentoring, and scholarship in the letter of interest
Describe interest in mentoring engineering students in the integration of Christian faith and learning by drawing from personal Christian faith background
Successful completion of a background check
Preferred
Experience as an ABET evaluator or similar experience with the process of ABET accreditation
