Principal Engineer Mechanical (Lead)

Zachry Group is seeking a Principal Engineer Mechanical to serve as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC power project. The role involves providing leadership for mechanical technical design, managing project schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Mechanical Lead on a EPC power Project
Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination
Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs
Prepare and maintain resource plans
Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages
Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations
Review equipment vendor documents for compliance to project specifications and industry standards
Develop job notes and technical scopes of work
Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work
Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals
Attend Client, Vendor, and Internal Team meetings
Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications
Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel; both within the company and for the customer
May supervise, coordinate, and review work of a small staff of engineers or designers on assigned work
As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work. May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision

Required

Bachelor's Degree
Strong leadership skills
Experience in mechanical technical design and project coordination
Ability to manage project schedules and budgets
Experience in preparing and maintaining resource plans
Experience in preparing equipment inquiry/RFQ packages
Ability to perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations
Experience in reviewing equipment vendor documents for compliance to project specifications and industry standards
Ability to develop job notes and technical scopes of work
Experience in performing field walk downs to collect information required to complete work
Ability to prepare man-hour estimates for proposals
Experience in attending client, vendor, and internal team meetings
Ability to present technical information to peers or other personnel for review
Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
