Responsibilities

Develop innovative sensor designs and/or packages for physical sensors such as pressure, acceleration, flow, etc
Build analytical and finite element thermal, structural, and fatigue models
Create 3D models, production 2D drawings, and complete tolerance analysis
Complete failure analysis of components as it relates to thermal loads, vibration, and shock
Interface with vendors and production teams to ensure designs can be manufactured at high volumes

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering
Hands-on experience working with sensors, such as accelerometers, pressure sensors, strain gauges, or temperature sensors, etc
Hardware design experience
Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones

Preferred

3+ years of experience in the design of sensors or optical systems, packaging or integration of sensors, or the design of mechanical and electrical systems
Working knowledge of fundamental sensing mechanisms
Experience packaging PCBs
Exposure to high volume manufacturing with a focus on design for manufacturability
Manufacturing processes including welding, wire bonding, and semiconductor fabrication
Experience designing components for high temperature, high vibration environments
Experience with thermal and structural FEA
Knowledge of inspection processes and tools for mechanical components
