Postdoctoral Associate in computational biology
The University of Florida is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Xiao Fan’s laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The role involves understanding genetic causes of rare human diseases through case-control association studies and improving the interpretation of genetic variations using machine learning methods, including study design, data acquisition, and data analysis.

Responsibilities
Research projects will involve study design, data acquisition, method development, data analysis, and software/database maintenance
Qualification
Required
PhD in computer science, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or related quantitative subject
Preferred
Experience with high performance computing
Experience with deep learning modelling
Experience with bioinformatics projects
Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals
Ability to mentor junior team members
A strong background in programming (e.g. python or R)
Demonstrated experience with machine learning modelling
Interest in learning biological/genetic concepts
Excellent communication skills
