DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
The City of Anna, Texas is an Equal Opportunity Employer seeking a Director of Development Services to manage and direct the daily operations of building services and comprehensive planning and zoning services. The role involves overseeing departmental activities, developing amendments to the long-range Comprehensive Plan, and implementing special projects related to the preservation of natural resources.

Responsibilities
Direct and manage the Planning and Development Department and Inspection staff
Review, assign and prioritize departmental activities and projects
Oversee, administer, and develop amendments to the long-range Comprehensive Plan for the City of Anna
Create, develop, and implement special projects for the preservation and conservation of City natural resources
Review, edit and modify staff reports to the Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, the Board of Adjustments, the Impact Fee Advisory Committee, and Building Standards Board
Develop, maintain, update, implement and enforce planning and zoning ordinances, and maintain official ordinance text, maps, and GIS
Conduct meetings with public and special interest groups for input, identification of issues, problems or conflicts for long range planning and development
Conduct special research projects and initiate special studies related to energy conservation, preservation of land and housing values, land use, population studies, housing and alternative solutions to issues and concerns raised by developers, homeowners, and City Council
Develop and monitor the department’s annual budget
Review existing and proposed ordinances and codes to develop amendments, impact of proposed amendments to ordinances and codes or impact of Federal and State codes on the current planning and zoning codes and ordinances
Prepare and present technical issues, alternative solutions to existing problems or to avoid potential problems and issues to the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission
Prepare informational packets for City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meetings utilizing geographical information systems to develop maps and plans
Apply for and administer grant projects related to Planning and Development
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, urban plan or design, public administration, urban geography, civil engineering or related field
Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in urban design and planning or a closely related field
Five years of supervisory responsibility
Must possess American Institute of certified Planners (AICP) Certification at the time of hire or promotion
Basic: Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Word Processing/Typing
Must possess a valid Class 'C' driver's license when hired
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check
