Lead System Administrator
SG2 Recruiting is seeking a Lead System Administrator to support the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST) at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. The role involves providing support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, as well as managing IT infrastructure and ensuring the reliability and performance of the systems.

Responsibilities
Providing support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
Managing IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems
Providing support to IT systems, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc
Providing Tier I (Help Desk) and II (advanced troubleshooting) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems
Providing support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
Providing support for the tracking system and hardware problems, and remaining involved in the resolution process
Configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems
Installing/loading the operating system and the application software
Isolating and resolving hardware and software problems involving the applications, the operating system, the hardware, the communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof
Troubleshooting, maintaining integrity, and configuring network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
Integrating new technologies into new and existing systems, including the transition and migration of corporate systems
Managing all virtual machines required by the division using software similar to VMPlayer V6
Managing the licenses and renewals for the 3rd party software required by the division (i.e., JIRA, VxWorks, Crucible/Fisheye, Klocwork, Red Hat, etc)
Qualification
Required
Active TS/SCI clearance
Minimum B.Sc., Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics
Experience with Unix, Linux, Wintel, and VXWorks Operating systems
Experience with overseeing system administration of highly reliable and high-capacity servers and databases
Ability to commute daily to the Naval Research Lab location in Washington, DC
