Plastic Surgery Research Scholar

Responsibilities
Coordinate the day-to-day operations for several research protocols
Responsible for the abstraction of complex medical data in order to determine study eligibility
Manage data using different tools, systems and statistical software package and submit protocol modifications and continuing reviews to the IRB as needed
Perform literature review, and write reports and sections of grant proposals and manuscripts for publication
Serve as a member of a research team
Organize, gain approval, and manage the majority of the research produced within the division under direction from senior clinical research staff
Develop skills in planning, implementation, and conducting retrospective and prospective clinical trials as well as managing and analyzing institutional and national datasets
Gain an understanding of the importance of human protection and laws which govern clinical research
Become proficient at generating study designs for new protocols and submitting to the IRB
Create databases to hold abstracted data for outcomes and other studies of interest
Monitor and analyze data for interpretation
Implement study design and actively recruit and collect data for prospective clinical trials
Prepare abstracts for scientific meetings and manuscripts for publication
Assist in preparation and full participation of divisional quarterly research meetings
Prepare and deliver accepted studies for conference posters and presentations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Current medical/surgical resident or current medical student who at minimum completed first year of medical school
We require two letters of recommendation and a personal statement for the application process
