Responsibilities
Coordinates the recruitment of new students and conducts informational sessions at schools and in the community for prospective families
Coordinates with feeder elementary, middle, high schools (as well as post-secondary institutions) to ensure articulation of programs design and curriculum
Communicates frequently with parents to update them on Dual Language Immersion Programs happenings, to identify community resources and to help parents support their students’ academic growth
Works with school administrators to create criteria for teacher recruitment and hiring and serves on interview committees
Develops and implements a training program for all staff on the school’s model and approach, and on the fundamentals of Dual Language Immersion Programs
Develops a list of community language resources (e.g. available speakers, venues for field trips) that can facilitate authentic use of target languages
Develops an understanding of curriculum that will be used in the Dual Language Programs, and research supplemental materials and resources
Creates and monitors procedures for Dual Language Programs staff to collaborate on planning and implementing the instructional program
Stays current on research and best practices related to the education of language learners, attend trainings and conferences to build knowledge of Dual Language Immersion Programs
Engages in networking with outside school districts and regional Dual Language Program schools
Ensures that program communications are up to date (website, video, brochure)
Communicates with school and other District staff to advocate for the needs of the Dual Language Program students
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in content-related area
Hold or be eligible for Missouri teacher certification
Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
Preferred
Experience with implementing creative strategies to address student and teacher challenges
Proficiency in integrating technology into school operations and classroom practices
