Non-Tenure Track Adjunct Instructor (Electrical and Computer Engineering) - Pool

Prairie View A&M University is seeking to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential employment in future Adjunct Instructor positions within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. This part-time, non-tenure track role primarily involves teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses as needed based on student demand.

Responsibilities

Teach up to 7 undergraduate/graduate SCH per semester (less than 50% FTE)
Maintain and manage student records
Post grades (assignments, mid-term & final) in a timely manner
Submit attendance reporting
Mentor and assist students
Post and maintain office hours for a minimum of three (3) hours per week
Attend student class orientation as needed (if required by the hiring department)
Attend clinical/simulation/studio meetings as needed (if required by hiring department)
Other duties as assigned by the department head

Required

Doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate SCH in the teaching discipline) for undergraduate level
Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline for graduate level
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks
Sufficient knowledge of the subject area being taught
Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods to provide effective learning experiences
Technical competence in appropriate subject matter and the ability to apply this knowledge to the solution of problems
Understanding of the learning and development processes of youth and adults
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and community members
Ability to use virtual technology and related software to support online teaching (if required by the hiring department)

Preferred

Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level
Knowledge of online learning management systems
