Associate Research Scientist - Software, Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ)

The associate research scientist-software will develop a quantum Monte Carlo software suite and support the scientific community through documentation, training, and collaboration with other scientists.

Responsibilities

Develop, expand and maintain the CCQ software suite devoted to general-purpose, high-performance auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo computations
Assist with the development and maintenance of other software suites as needed
Create documentation, respond to user questions, and address bug reports
Provide training through mentoring junior scientists; giving lectures and tutorials at the Flatiron Institute; and engaging in external activities such as summer schools
Collaborate with scientists at the Flatiron Institute and elsewhere for publications

Required

PhD in Physics, Theoretical Chemistry or related field
Excellent abilities in the development of scientific software for research
Proficiency with a major programming language such as C++
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment

Preferred

Experience with Quantum Monte Carlo or closely related methodologies
Experience with modern electronic structure or quantum chemistry codes, or with large-scale lattice model calculations
Strong knowledge in quantum many-body physics and chemistry
Experience with the Julia or Python programming language
Experience with high-performance computing including MPI and GPU, and with optimizing code performance in linux/unix environments
