(USA) Staff, Software Engineer - Traffic Foundation
Walmart Canada is looking for a passionate and innovative software engineer to join Traffic Foundation within Walmart’s Global Technology Platform group. This role involves designing and building high-performance, distributed systems at a massive scale, while leading complex cross-functional projects and ensuring the business needs are met.

Responsibilities
Involved in planning of system, development, and deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards
Drives technical vision and influences product roadmap and vision
Implement large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects
Leads the discovery phase of large projects to develop high level design
Supervise the work of cross-functional groups of engineers, including offshore associates
Directs root cause analysis of critical business and production issues
Supports business objectives and ensures the business needs are being met
Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams; partnering with cross-functional teams across the business; developing assessments of key opportunities; documenting project scopes; developing long-range plans and project timelines; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives within the organization; and resolving technology differences across teams through informed discussions
Qualification
Required
8+ years of professional experience in software engineering
Experience building Layer 4 and 7 orchestration/routing/load balancing systems
Managed systems with >1K servers
Built high-performance HTTP proxies and caches
Experience with cloud (Azure/Go preferred)
DevOps experience
Clear understanding of TCP/HTTP request/response protocols/lifecycle
4+ Experience in a language such as Go/C/C++/Java
Ability to interact effectively with a variety of business and technical stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing technical documentation
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences
Demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards
Knowledge of accessibility best practices
