Responsibilities
Be a highly effective contributor to the mechanical engineering, shop, and production teams
Contribute to the design, testing, and production of marine mechanical systems, from concept and CAD modeling to prototype construction, testing, and iterative improvements
Design and work on core ship systems, including propulsion battery modules, enclosures, thermal management, and structural vessel integration, cargo securing, lifting and hoisting, and other key marine equipment
Support the development of production systems, using tools like robotic arms, laser welders, and assembly processes
Collaborate across electrical, marine, and software teams
Participate in setting up and operating new production facilities, bringing designs to life
Engage in hands-on testing and prototyping in dynamic, sometimes hazardous environments, ensuring safety and precision
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2-5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
Proficiency with design tools such as SolidWorks
Shop floor fluency (welding, cutting, turning, milling, additive mfg., etc.)
Strong first-principles engineering knowledge, including a basic understanding of material properties, an understanding of practical physics, heat flow, and statics and mechanics
Enthusiasm for iterative design, problem-solving, and hands-on testing
Ability to work safely in fast-paced, sometimes hazardous environments
Preferred
Experience in marine engineering, energy storage systems, or automotive preferred
Any proficiency with robotics, programming, or electrical engineering
