Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist – Aging Accounts (Behavioral Health & Primary Care)

Meridian HealthCare is searching for a full-time A/R Specialist – Aging Accounts to join their team in Youngstown, OH. This role focuses on managing and reducing aging accounts receivable balances for their Behavioral Health and Primary Care services, requiring detail-oriented and proactive individuals skilled in working with payers and resolving claim issues.

Responsibilities

Monitor and manage aging accounts receivable reports to ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances
Research and resolve denied, unpaid, or underpaid claims for behavioral health and primary care services
Contact insurance companies, Medicaid/Medicare, and patients as needed to follow up on outstanding balances
Correct and resubmit claims, file appeals, and provide required documentation to payers
Identify trends in denials or payment delays and recommend process improvements
Maintain accurate and detailed records of follow-up activity and claim status
Collaborate with front-end registration and clinical teams to resolve eligibility, coding, and documentation issues
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations
Assist with month-end reporting and A/R reconciliation as needed

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of experience in healthcare accounts receivable with a focus on behavioral health and/or primary care billing required
Strong knowledge of insurance reimbursement processes, Medicaid/Medicare, and commercial payers
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
