Director of Production Operations
MillerKnoll is dedicated to designing for the good of humankind and is seeking a Director of Production Operations to lead manufacturing operations at their facility. The role involves overseeing machining, fabricating, and assembling processes while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and fostering employee engagement.
Design
Responsibilities
Leads manufacturing operations for assigned facility. Ensures compliance with HMI policies / practices and standards
Participates in the development of corporate manufacturing strategies and develops a plant specific strategy to align
Achieves exceptional levels of customer service and delivery reliability with highly variable demand patterns and product variation
Maintains high standards of quality, follows agreed standards, and introduces improvement initiatives to address problems and ensure high standards are maintained
Achieves a safety culture which ensures high levels of employee engagement, addresses risk and strives towards an accident free environment
Achieves exceptional levels of employee engagement through regular and open communication, two way feedback at all levels and an environment where issues can be openly raised and positively received at all levels of leadership
Ensures a consistent and high level employee experience is achieved across the facility
Coaches and mentors team member’s; designs and delegates appropriate workloads; builds development plans to ensure career success; participates in succession planning activities
Delegates authority to key supervision in production, production control, methods, cost accounting, maintenance and related operations
Ensures that objectives are achieved on a timely basis at the lowest cost (within financial resources), while maintaining quality requirements
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline. Significant equivalent operational experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
10+ years of experience in progressively responsible production management positions, specifically experience with manufacturing and assembly of highly variable products on relatively short lead-times with significant fluctuations in volumes
5+ years of management experience
Successful experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process from strategic planning through implementation and follow-thru
Strong relationship and consensus-building skills necessary to manage projects in a complex matrixed environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work with all levels in the organization
Ability to use a broad business acumen and holistic perspective to see opportunities and risks of potential trade-offs
Demonstrated excellent coaching, mentoring, and people development skills
Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
Demonstrated outstanding written/verbal communication skills, and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences including the highest level of the organization
Ability to effectively use office automation / communication software and tools used in the HMI office environment
Exhibits high personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn and must be results oriented
Demonstrated leadership competence as defined by Executive Competencies, including the proven ability to effectively focus resources to implement a business strategy, generate excitement and commitment around the vision and goals and drive innovation and change
Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations
