Flight Test Mechanic (Onsite)

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in aerospace technology and is seeking Flight Test Mechanics to support the G400 Flight Test program in Savannah, Georgia. The role involves performing nacelle structural retrofits, repairs, and rework for hardware, as well as assembly operations and compliance inspection activities.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs / rework on Collins Aerospace nacelle products (Inlet Cowls, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reversers, Aprons, and Engine Build Up) to support the G400 flight test program
Performs assembly operations and processes. Assembles & fabricates sheet metal
Reads blueprints, follows written and verbal instructions, and performs basic math calculations
Works in a team environment, participates in compliance inspection continuous improvement (CI) activities
Uses basic hand tools, drills, power tools, and measuring equipment to complete tasks
Drills holes, installs fasteners, route, and trims parts, and applies primers and sealants
Performs all other duties as assigned

Required

Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
4 or more years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction/facilities
Experience with hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, light equipment, drill motors and air-powered tools
Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions
Prior experience working in an aircraft manufacturing or operations environment
Ability to mix, apply, and work around sealants, solvents, paints, and chemicals per specification requirements
Self-directed & action-oriented with the ability to work in a team environment to resolve most questions and problems
Willingness to learn and develop skills and knowledge
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, sit, twist, and work above head height for various periods of time during the workday
Ability to work in various conditions, including on ladders, lifts, and on aircraft using harnesses
Ability to wear PPE as provided and required for job tasks
Ability to work extended hours, including alternate shifts and weekends, to support the flight test schedule
Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred

Aviation structural experience
Familiar with Nacelle components and their operation
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to assemble equipment
Composite repair experience
