Responsibilities
Performs blood collection on all patient populations and ages using a variety of procedures
Utilizes a positive patient identification device to monitor new orders and draws that are pending
Uses critical thinking skills/problem solving when identifying more difficult collections and alternative procedures to complete blood draws
Interacts with nursing staff, providers, other hospital staff, patients, family members and co-workers to meet the needs of the patient
Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care
Qualification
Required

Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume
Ability to appropriately respond to unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or IS failure
Ability to appropriately respond to shift-to-shift hand-offs
Ability to appropriately respond to STAT test orders
Ability to appropriately respond to specimen integrity issues that exceed threshold
