BROADCAST IT ENGINEER - RAYCOM SPORTS

Raycom Sports, a part of Gray Media, is seeking a Broadcast IT Engineer to work in a modern broadcast facility, focusing on IT management and broadcast engineering for sports production. Responsibilities
Act as a member of both the local Raycom Sports Engineering Team and the company-wide engineering team to implement state-of-the-art solutions
Brainstorm and develop new solutions for operations and sports transmissions
Interface with Production employees and freelancers to troubleshoot applications and systems
Maintain the technical integrity of the Raycom Sports facilities, including but not limited to the control room, studios, truck, stadium, and production equipment
Assist with IT desktop and infrastructure support
Assist in responding to facility outages and perform basic maintenance on building systems, on-air systems, Ethernet, fiber networks, and systems
Install, repair, and maintain digital and high-definition broadcast equipment as well as computer and IT equipment associated with the operation of broadcast signals and office functions
Research equipment and determine whether it appropriately supports the facility and improves the operation, streamlining operations while reducing errors
Identify solutions that may result in savings to the company
Implement, support, and evaluate applications used by Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows, and Linux platforms
Qualification
Required
Must have a clean driving record and live drug-free
An associate's degree in electronics technology or an IT field
Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance
Knowledge of Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows platforms, and Linux
Proficient with broadcast production systems such as: Grass Valley Switchers, Sony Cameras, Evertz routers, graphics systems including Chyron, Vizrt, and XPression, Ross Hardware, Haivision encode/decode, Kiloview encoders, Wireless audio and communications systems
Understanding of TCP/IP networks and other PC networking technologies
Understanding of digital TV (HD/SDI) as well as core technical/plant facilities
Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment
Proven ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control rooms and studio facilities
Position requires excellent interpersonal skills
Position requires a cool, level-headed individual who works well under the pressures of 'live' television
Strong hands-on, problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems
Understanding of the urgent needs of the live broadcast, sports, and entertainment environment; ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments
Must be a self-starter who can meet deadlines
The ability to work alone and in a team environment with engineers, freelancers, IT, and other departments
Excellent written and verbal communication as well as diplomacy skills
Must be able to work highly varied and flexible hours in support of live sporting events (i.e. nights, weekends, and holidays)
Preferred
Live Sports production experience preferred
Competence in MS Office software applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.); CAD/Visio experience a plus
