Responsibilities

Build a safe and joyful classroom culture where scholars develop both technical photography skills and a deep appreciation for the art form

Teach scholars the fundamentals of photography, including composition, lighting, digital and/or film processes, editing, and visual storytelling

Foster creativity while pushing scholars to think critically and conceptually about photography as both an art and a medium of communication

Collaborate with fellow Art and Photography teachers across the network to build a premier visual arts program, contributing to exhibitions, showcases, and making learning visible to the broader school community

Build a culture of self-expression while engaging scholars in discussions about photographic history, contemporary practice, and the role of photography in society

Participate in targeted Professional Development sessions, benefiting from real-time feedback to continually refine instruction and accelerate growth

Required

Hold a Bachelor's degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Studio Art, or Art Education (a strong concentration in photography is highly preferred)

Have an outstanding record of academic and/or professional achievement

Possess a photography portfolio that demonstrates both technical ability and creative vision, as well as a passion for teaching and learning

Have experience with photographic history, theory, and contemporary practice, along with proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom)

Bring prior experience working in education, studio environments, or professional photography settings

Have the ability to set ambitious goals and maintain high expectations for yourself and your scholars

Embrace collaboration and are eager to contribute to a dynamic, creative team
