Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

Own key components of the monthly close process, including preparing and reviewing complex journal entries and reconciliations
Perform and oversee account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Review and analyze customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
Serve as a key contributor to the year-end audit, including preparing audit schedules and managing auditor requests
Support tax compliance (sales/use, franchise, 1099, etc.) in collaboration with external advisors and internal stakeholders
Identify and lead process improvements, including documentation of accounting policies and procedures
Act as a NetSuite power user, helping optimize system workflows and reporting
Leverage AI to improve processes
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Finance teams on revenue, billing, and contract-related matters
Assist with reviewing the work of other team members as needed to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a SaaS or technology environment preferred
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606
Experience preparing for and supporting external audits
Proficient in NetSuite; experience with system optimization or automation is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Demonstrated initiative in improving processes and documenting procedures

Preferred

2 years in a SaaS or technology environment preferred
Experience with system optimization or automation is a plus
