The Summer Intern for the Performance Measures team will engage in impactful assignments that enhance service quality and operational efficiency while supporting long-term initiatives within the Network Strategy, Design & Innovation team.

Responsibilities

Designing and developing performance reporting systems and analytical techniques for rail operations

Providing analytical support to Network Strategy, Design, Innovation, and Transportation leaders on train, yard, and block volume changes, car velocity and utilization, terminal, and train operational performance, and blocking integrity

Participating in transportation services analyses and building presentations for internal and external distribution

Performing timely analysis and communicating complex material effectively

Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment

Required

Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire

Does not require BNSF's assistance, now or in the future, (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) to obtain, maintain, or extend employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status)

Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, OR a similar degree program from an accredited university

Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience/military experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree

Have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship to and from my assigned BNSF location

Preferred

Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Data Science, Technology or a related field

Have or have held a leadership position in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization
