KLM Careers is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to manage and conduct archaeological projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The role involves overseeing fieldwork, writing reports, and ensuring projects meet quality standards while also contributing to business development efforts.

Responsibilities

Conducts archaeological field work with the ability to identify artifacts and determine the presence of archaeological sites
Collects data and field samples during archaeological investigations
Analyzes historic and pre-historic artifacts
Documents methodologies and findings of research and archaeological investigations
Reviews and writes archaeological reports and/or prepares archaeological site forms
Assists in making decisions about project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects to archaeological resources
Works with technical field, lab and office staff, managers and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standards
Assists in business development through the preparation of proposals, budgets, and other marketing materials
Coordinates with clients throughout project to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standards and stays on schedule and budget

Masters Degree in AnthropologySecretary of the Interiors Qualification StandardsPhase I-III fieldworkProject team leadershipAutoCAD/MicroStationArcMap/GIS programsWriting sample requiredFederal AgenciesTribal NationsRegistered Professional ArchaeologistCommunication skills

Required

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
Masters Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related field
Must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists
8+ years of experience
Regional (Mid-Atlantic or Southeast) experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology
Experience leading a project team from start to finish
Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork
Must be able to provide a writing sample from either a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report
Must possess a valid drivers license
Registered Professional Archaeologist (or ability to become registered)
Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ArcMap and/or other GIS programs
Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
