Animal Care Technician

eGenesis is dedicated to giving patients with organ failure a second chance at life through genome engineering. The Animal Care Technician will provide animal care, assist with animal-related projects, and collaborate with the Farm Operations Team to ensure compliance with eGenesis standards.

Responsibilities

Feeding and cleaning of all animals and housing facilities
Closely observe animals when working with them and report any unusual conditions immediately to Vet Staff/Direct Supervisor
Assist in safe animal handling and movements
Maintain high standard of animal care and welfare
Maintenance of animal related equipment and facilities
Responsible for maintaining all aspects relative to research animal care, health, and treatment
Follow instructions and recommendations for animal treatments in accordance with on-site Vet Staff direction
Support Vet Staff with the preparation of animals undergoing surgeries
Responsible for maintaining and keeping health and herd management records
Perform estrus synchronization, injection/administration of hormones, and heat checking/estrus detection
Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace by following safe work practices and enforcing health and safety regulations
Adhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements

Required

0-3+ years of hands-on livestock handling or relevant animal research experience
High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in relevant animal science field
Must not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company
Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Preferred

Working knowledge of farm equipment is beneficial but not required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial but not required
Knowledge of swine operations is beneficial but not required
