Senior Electric Distribution and Transmission Engineer

Responsibilities

Supervise and assign duties to engineering staff and consultants for electric distribution and transmission projects
Design and manage electric distribution, 34.5kV transmission, fiber, and communication systems, including cost estimating and service upgrades
Oversee project management from design to construction, ensuring compliance with standards and codes
Conduct or supervise on-site inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and safety standards
Serve as the main contact for customer interactions related to new projects and installations
Coordinate with internal teams (line operations, metering, communications) to support utility operations
Review and comment on engineering and civil plans for development within city jurisdiction
Maintain and update GIS, CAD/CAM, and fiber network systems in coordination with IT
Support utility budgeting, system forecasting, load analysis, and performance optimization
Contribute to the development of engineering standards, procedures, and reliability improvements

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
Minimum 4 years of experience in electric utility operations or a similar environment
Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and applicable standards and codes
Strong multitasking, communication, and judgment skills; capable of working independently
Availability for 24/7 emergency response with a wireless communication device
Ability to perform moderate physical work, including lifting to 48 lbs. in varied conditions
Must pass background check, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screening if selected
