Responsibilities
Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures including blood work, imaging, and endoscopy
Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine service
Administer medications, IV fluids, and wound care treatments under veterinarian supervision
Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their animal's condition and treatment options
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized
Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology
Stay updated on advancements in internal medicine through continuing education
Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
General understanding and experience with small animal restraint with a focus on cats and dogs
High school diploma
Calm, professional demeanor
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital
Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy
Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures (i.e. SOPs)
Able to work well independently as well as with a team
Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology
Preferred
Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine
Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California
