The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking Civil/Construction/Environmental/Geo/Structural Engineering Student Workers for the summer of 2026. This role involves assisting engineering offices by performing pre-engineering work and gaining hands-on transportation work experience in various areas such as construction, surveying, and project management.

Responsibilities
Assist and provide support to engineering offices throughout the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) by performing pre-engineering work as assigned and directed by the hiring supervisor
Gain hands-on transportation work experience
Examples of assignments may include construction, surveying, design, project management, bridge maintenance, materials, environmental stewardship, water resources, hydraulics, and traffic
Qualification
Required
Applicant must be an undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Civil, Construction, Environmental, Geo or Structural Engineering OR Land Management
Student must be taking two (2) or more classes per semester. Any lesser credit load shall be treated as a semester off
A valid driver's license is required for some positions
Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check
It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment
Preferred
Students completing their junior year, but all college levels encouraged to apply
GPA of 3.0 or higher
