Senior Autonomy/AI Research Engineer
Tokyo Electron (TEL) is a leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, focusing on groundbreaking research and technology development in AI/ML for semiconductor equipment at their Silicon Valley AI lab. They are seeking a Senior Autonomy/AI Research Engineer to lead the enhancement of technology related to the autonomous operation of semiconductor equipment, including embedded control and complex software/hardware systems.

Qualification
Required
7+ years of relevant experience (such as computer science/AI research, software engineering, machine learning, scheduling and planning, or knowledge representation)
3+ years of experience with complex hardware + software systems
PhD or MSc in Computer Science or adjacent areas, or BSc with 10+ years of AI/ML/Comp Sci research excellence required
Creative, out-of-the-box thinker
Good communicator who works well in a team and across cultural barriers
Low prestige problem solver: willing to be wrong and accept a better solution
Productive in translating ideas to code
Present to support colleagues – gives freely of own time
Interested in learning, e.g. a complex application domain, new programming languages
Willing and able to travel overseas (east Asia) 1-3 times per year
Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues in east Asia some evenings
