Responsibilities
This leader will develop the central engine for data-driven strategic decisions and storytelling across our product organization. This function translates the overarching business strategy into a cohesive strategy for the entire product portfolio, ensuring that the sum of the product efforts aligns with company goals
Build and oversee a small product portfolio strategy group that will:
Define the product vision and strategy for the portfolio, creating a compelling vision for where the entire suite of products is heading and the value it will deliver
Identify and prioritize target customer segments and market opportunities at a portfolio level, guiding where product efforts should be focused
Set broad strategic themes (e.g., "improve user retention across all products," "expand into adjacent enterprise markets") that guide the strategies of individual product verticals
Ensure products within the portfolio are appropriately differentiated from each other to avoid cannibalization and effectively positioned against competitors
Guide Investment Allocation Across Product Verticals: Provide input and frameworks for how R&D and product development resources are allocated across different product lines based on strategic importance
Build and oversee a small, centralized product analytics group that will:
Build a Product Super Day Dashboard (Day One priority) that provides a high-level summary of product performance, customer value and growth, platform health, and delivery effectiveness. This will ensure leaders are consistently talking about the health of our products and catching issues before they start
Partner with product teams to provide broad, cross-functional insights into customer journeys and overall product performance, as well as enabling deep, product-specific analysis to help individual teams understand user engagement, test hypotheses, and identify opportunities for improvement
Drive “always-on” initiatives to enhance the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of product information and customer data
Leadership: May manage and develop multiple analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One. Coach and develop direct reports while fostering a culture of high performance
Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. They should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
Execution: Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)
At least 7 years of experience in analysis
Preferred
Master's Degree
2+ years of experience in financial services
1+ year of experience in consulting
3+ years of experience in people management
