Responsibilities
Establish and maintain an externally funded, independent research program in areas such as diabetes, obesity, islet biology, or islet transplantation, with a focus on investigating molecular mechanisms of disease
Engage in multi-investigator research efforts and collaborate with faculty across departments and research centers to promote interdisciplinary research and translational applications
Participate in the training and education of graduate/doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows in research settings and in formal and informal group education formats
Publish research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present in local, national, and international conferences
Serve on University committees that support research and teaching missions
Qualification
Required
PhD or MD degree or equivalent
Postdoctoral training focused on diabetes research
Established record of scholarly productivity related to basic science (diabetes, obesity cell, molecular biology) and/or translational and clinical investigation
Evidence of externally funded research as demonstrated by application materials
Experience with teaching or mentoring students at all degree and post-graduate levels
Letter of interest addressed to the Faculty Search Committee

Brief statement of research plans (maximum 6 pages)
Up to three recent publications (PDF format) that form the basis for future research
Preferred
Documented expertise in basic science (diabetes, obesity, molecular biology) and/or clinical studies as demonstrated by application materials
Experience contributing to interdisciplinary publications
Experience taking innovative approaches to study molecular mechanisms of either (i) islet biology, or (ii) islet transplantation, or (iii) molecular mechanisms of type 1 or type 2 diabetes and obesity
