Responsibilities

Manage Design. Uses AutoCAD to perform design tasks and produce drawings. Draws on internal/external mechanical and civil designer resources as required, who produce the majority of drawings
Inspect. Provides field supervision/inspection services on construction projects. Performs post-project review to ensure key objectives, cost/performance improvements, and rate of return are achieved
Prepare Bid Packages. Prepares bid packages for construction and manages construction contracts
Provide Updates. Provide project updates on a regular basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
Represent the Company. Represents the company to industry associations, government officials, and public agencies
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned
Travel. Varies based on projects, up to 25%. Most travel will be in central Georgia

Required

BS degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Mining Engineering degrees considered with substantial civil/mechanical/project experience
1-5 years of project management and related experience with experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment
Strong familiarity with project management and engineering software tools, methodologies, and best practices
Recent graduates considered with substantial co-op or other work experience
Basic understanding of preparing a project scope, budget, and timeline
Must have competent knowledge of concrete and steel design, building codes, and construction practices
Fundamental project management skills are desired
Some competency with AutoCAD and being fully functional with the Microsoft Office suite
Acts decisively and supports all aspects of the company to work together to accomplish the objectives, vision, mission, and values of Vulcan
Identifies and defines clear short-term goals and/or work outcomes that are required to implement strategic goals
Proven ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
Detail oriented
Follows through with commitments and solves problems in a timely fashion
Deals skillfully and promptly with new situations
Ask a series of probing questions to go beyond surface issues and fully understand the components of a problem and its root causes
Verifies assumptions or interpretations by checking with credible sources or through first-hand observation and data-gathering
Advanced computer skills including spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite is required
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and must be extremely resourceful
Communicates clearly and listens carefully in an open, candid, and consistent manner
Acts with unyielding integrity and honesty in business transactions, promoting company policies and holding self and other employees accountable, keeping promises and commitments
Sets a safety tone for all activities; and upholds the highest standards for protecting people and the environment

Preferred

Being on the path to PE licensure is preferred
Skill in drawing and designing with AutoCAD/land desktop preferred
