Responsibilities

Operate ultrasound equipment utilizing a variety of possible techniques to include Echocardiograms, Stress Echocardiograms, Trans-Espohageal echocardiograms, image enhanced echocardiograms, Intra-Cardiac echocardiography, pre/intra/post cardiac procedures

Adjust image quality and adjust equipment parameters/settings to obtain optimal diagnostic results

Perform exams recognizing the significance of all structures visualized and the ability to differentiate artifact from appropriate images while recognizing limitations of equipment; demonstrating advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease; demonstrate flexibility performing scans in different environments

Educate patients and families of safe and appropriate testing; thoroughly explaining procedures, answering questions, and calming concerns

Demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency in ordered procedures, schedule flexibility, and electronic medical records

Utilize API electronic functions to assist with departmental timekeeping accuracy

High School Diploma Required

Certificate from an Ultrasonography Program, Vascular Credential (RDCS/RCS) Required

Prior ECHO sonography experience Required

Minimum of two years on the job training with demonstrated competency Required

Knowledge of scanning techniques required

Knowledge of Normal and Abnormal Anatomy, required

Computer Proficient, required

Medical Terminology, required

Ability to assess and resolve technical issues required

Ability to maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment required

Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Required

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Required

Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required
