Electrical Engineer – Mid Level (Hybrid)
Barr Engineering Co. is seeking an electrical engineer to join their Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, you will provide electrical engineering and technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuels facilities, working on multidisciplinary project teams to integrate process and mechanical requirements into comprehensive electrical systems.

Responsibilities
Technical knowledge: cost estimation, preparation of specifications, wiring and schematic diagrams, and bill-of-material development. Tasks will also involve design and analysis and include the preparation of plans and specifications, report development, cost estimating, and the design of power and controls from the ground up
Project management: proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget. Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
Staff development: support the growth and development of team members
Collaboration: build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams. Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture
Qualification
Required
bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
5 years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
experience with AutoCAD and basic Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word
possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
Preferred
10+ years of experience at a consulting engineering or industrial company
Knowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, minerals processing, or chemical production
Background and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning
Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagrams
Experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas
