3+ years expThe Georgia Academy for the Blind is recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Tech 2. The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, care, and maintenance of outdoor landscapes and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Mow lawns, trim edges, and perform seasonal landscaping tasks such as aerating, seeding, and fertilizing
Prune trees, bushes, and shrubs to maintain appearance and promote healthy growth
Plant, water, and maintain flower beds, trees, and other vegetation
Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws
Clean and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, outdoor furniture, and other exterior areas by removing trash, leaves, snow, and debris
Inspect grounds regularly to identify and report hazards, damage, or pest problems
Apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Assist with minor repairs to outdoor fixtures such as fences, benches, and signs
Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, storm cleanup, and special event setup and takedown
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and report to supervisors on work progress and issues
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching; frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting or moving up to 50 lbs
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience; or Internal experience at a lower level Facility Maintenance Wkr 3 (FES052) or Grounds Maintenance Tech 1 (FET071) or position equivalent
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching; frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting or moving up to 50 lbs
Preferred
At least one year of experience as a groundskeeper for a commercial or residential facility or facilities
Knowledge of motor vehicle and small engine repair
Experience with commercial lawn mowing equipment
