Responsibilities
Serves as crew chief, leading field survey staff on related project tasks including accurately collecting, documenting, and recording field data
Supports the development of scope, schedule, and budgets in a project manager capacity
Trains technicians in the use of survey equipment
Maintains survey tools, equipment, and vehicles
Operates survey equipment to conduct survey activities
Reads, interprets, and comprehends construction and real estate documents
Performs courthouse and field research needed for locating property and right-of-way lines
Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
HS/GED and 6 years relevant experience
Valid driver's license
Willingness to travel
Knowledge of route, bridge, and boundary surveys
Knowledge of OpenRoads
Knowledge of INDOT codes and standards
Willingness to work outside in all temperatures and a variety of terrain such as creeks, rivers, steep hills, and bridge embankments
Ability to take notes, photos, and sketch bridge details
Knowledge of Trimble Dini, GPS, and Robotic Total Station
Knowledge of section breakdowns
Ability to lead, supervise, and train other field personnel
Preferred
10+ years of experience in surveying
Drone license
Static Control Network
Ability to train junior staff
Knowledge of Trimble X7 scanner
Knowledge of Trimble MX9 mobile unit
