A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university

One year of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure for Engineer II

Two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure for Engineer III

Three years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure for Engineer IV

Four years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure for Engineer V

Five years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure for Engineer VI

One year of full-time engineering experience for General Engineering Specialist II

Two years of full-time engineering experience for General Engineering Specialist III

Four years of full-time engineering experience for General Engineering Specialist IV

Five years of full-time engineering experience for General Engineering Specialist V

Six years of full-time engineering experience for General Engineering Specialist VI

Preferred

State of Texas Engineer-in-Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification will substitute for six months of the required experience

A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience

A doctorate in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the required experience
