Adjunct, Automation Technology
Salt Lake Community College is Utah’s largest open-access college, dedicated to transforming students’ lives and strengthening surrounding communities. They are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to provide instruction in Automation Technology, focusing on both theory and practical applications in areas such as Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Electrical Systems. Responsibilities
Maintain in-depth knowledge of industrial automation topics
Programming PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
Good mechanical aptitude
Understanding of electrical circuits as they relate to automation
Instruct students through self-paced labs, and ensure course learning outcomes are met
Creates an effective, supportive learning environment for Salt Lake Technical College students
Evaluate student learning through labs and assignments
Maintain student performance records
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership. Ability to take initiative and resolve problems
Ability to work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude
Excellent attendance record and attitude
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities

Required
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment
New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date

Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Automation Technology and 4 years of relevant industry experience, OR 6 years of relevant industry experience
Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire
Preferred
Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Automation Technology and 6 years of relevant industry experience
