Start in 2026 SummerGhafari Associates is seeking an engineering intern to work fully in-office in their Chicago, IL location for the period of May - August 2026. The intern will apply CAD/Revit skills and design knowledge to generate engineering design documents and digital models while collaborating closely with engineers during the design phase of projects.

Responsibilities
Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit software
Work closely with engineers during design phase of a project to understand scope of the project information to determine design data needs and guidelines for the project
Provide limited design on documents and detail design documents with input from engineers
Make corrections and produce final documents for engineers review. Check for integration of sections and coordination of disciplines. Work with engineers to resolve document coordination and production problems
Reproduce documents upon request
May produce drawings and digital design models in 3D software applications
Deploy team oriented problem solving
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree in an engineering discipline at an accredited university. Students should have completed at least (2) years of classes
Working proficiency in design software applications (Revit, AutoCAD)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Capable of taking initiative; able to take direction
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred
Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus
