Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble a variety of fresh salads and cold food items according to recipes and patient dietary requirements
Wash, peel, chop, and prepare fruits and vegetables for salads and other cold dishes
Ensure that all salads and cold items are presented attractively and meet the hospital’s food safety and quality standards
Portion out salad ingredients and assist in packaging meals for patients and staff
Maintain cleanliness and organization of salad preparation area, including countertops, sinks, and equipment
Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of salad ingredients and other supplies
Adhere to food safety and sanitation practices, including proper handwashing and the safe use of kitchen equipment
Follow hospital protocols for handling dietary restrictions and allergies when preparing salads and other food items
Assist the kitchen staff in other food prep and service tasks as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods
Ability to bend, lift, and carry items up to 25 lbs
Standing for long periods during the preparation and serving of food
Manual dexterity required for chopping, slicing, and preparing food
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on the needs of the hospital
Preferred
Previous experience in a food service or hospital kitchen setting is preferred but not required
