Engineering Internship

Southport Engineered Systems is offering an Engineering Internship for Summer 2025, providing hands-on experience in drafting and design, sales, estimation, and project management. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.

Responsibilities

Assemble bill of materials to assist with job estimates
Create HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection shop drawings utilizing Autodesk Revit
Visit jobsites to confirm measurements of existing walls, ceilings, structure, and mechanical systems
Shadow project managers on jobsite visits and job meetings
Organize project documents and put together submittal binders
Gain useful fabrication knowledge by constructing ductwork in our in-house shop
Gain valuable installation knowledge by installing mechanical systems in the field
Perform all other duties assigned to this role

Required

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
Proficient in computers and modeling software
Knowledgeable in HVAC system types, system selection, performance characteristics and applications of different system types
Ability to decipher construction blueprints
Ability to interact with field personnel, other trades, and office staff
Self motivated, with a willingness to learn and grow
Good attitude and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
