Housing and Financial Counseling Volunteer

They are seeking a Housing and Financial Counseling Volunteer to assist with the accessibility application process, communicate with applicants, and manage grant submissions.

Responsibilities

Field incoming calls and emails from potential applicants seeking to apply for the accessibility grant
Explain the home modification grant opportunity, eligibility, and process to inquirers
Meet with applicants to obtain required application documents and photos of modification areas; traveling to applicants’ homes may be required
Communicate with chosen contractors to explain the required credentials, documentation, compliance, and timelines
Prepare and submit grant applications within Virginia Housing’s Grants Management System; training provided
Communicate grant status with applicants and check in regularly to evaluate the status of modification work being completed in comparison to timeline
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
Other duties as assigned

Required

Must maintain reliable transportation to and from work, including off-site events
Must have and maintain a working cell phone
Strong computer skills and demonstrated working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required
Must have a valid driver's license and meet background check requirements
